Follow these steps to resolve a decline or a hold on your MIT Travel Card 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Confirm your PIN number

If you have forgotten the PIN number associated with your MIT Travel Card, visit the Bank of America online PIN check and have your user ID and password ready.

Call MIT Travel and Card Services

If your card is declined during MIT business hours (Monday-Friday 9 am–5 pm EST), call VPF Travel and Card Services at 617-253-8366.

Call Bank of America (outside of business hours)

If your card is declined outside of MIT business hours (Monday-Friday 9 am–5 pm EST), call Bank of America at 888-449-2273 inside the U.S. or (call collect) 1+ 602-379-8753 outside the US.

Review “Important Information” card

Be sure to carry the MIT Travel “Important Information” card whenever you travel with an MIT Travel Card. The white card lists all the information you need when you call MIT Travel or Bank of America to resolve a decline or hold on your MIT Travel Card account:

  • billing address—77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139
  • account phone number—617-253-8366
  • activation ID—your MIT ID number
  • account name—Kathleen McGrath or Kim Harmon
