If your DLC is deactivating a piece of equipment or furniture—even if it is being disposed of at the end of its useful life—you must arrange to have it tagged properly prior to removal.
Email Michael McCarthy in the VPF Property Office with the details of any equipment or furniture your DLC is disposing of to arrange for proper tagging. Erin also will update the property records to indicate the item has been removed from your DLC.
When you’ve had an item properly tagged and deactivated by the Property Office, your DLC must have the item removed or repurposed appropriately.
- removal of non-hazardous waste—contact the MIT Department of Facilities
- disposal of hazardous IT waste—contact Facilities
- MIT Equipment Exchange and Storage Warehouse (WW15)—email Michael McCarthy or call to donate items for reuse at MIT or for sale to the general public (Note: Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Warehouse is closed until further notice)
- informal MIT recycling mailing list—contact ReUse
Post it on Rheaply.
Check out Rheaply, MIT’s online marketplace that offers MIT's DLCs a free exchange of surplus materials, from lab equipment and supplies to office furniture and office supplies.
