VPF is offering a variety of training opportunities this fall, on a wide range of finance topics.

• A new online course on Sponsored Award Monitoring and Closeouts is available in the Atlas Learning Center. It covers the requirements and best practices for sponsored award monitoring and closeouts.
• The September Fundamentals of Financial Management course filled up quickly. VPF plans to offer another session later this fall. The Zoom version is divided into three 90-minute sessions (on Monday, Wednesday, Friday). New dates will be announced on the VPF website soon. 
• The Introduction to Sourcing, Contracts and Procurement class on Zoom is scheduled for Thursday, October 22. This class provides an overview of the MIT purchasing process, including finding and selecting suppliers, documentation requirements for registering new suppliers or independent contractors, creating requisitions, and addressing when a contract is required. It will also cover the new COVID-19 Store.
• VPF Tax is offering a workshop on Sales Tax on Tuesday, November 10. Designed for MIT administrators and fiscal officers, this informational workshop will address MIT’s status as a sales tax-exempt organization and how to use the necessary forms to claim the sales-tax exemption when making purchases for MIT. The workshop also provides information for DLCs that collect sales tax for goods or services, with instructions for collecting and reporting on these taxes.
