VPF Announces New Process for Returning Airgas Cylinders

Publication Date
12/19/2024

VPF has announced that MIT and Airgas are centralizing the cylinder and dewar return request process. Effective immediately, DLCIs should no longer submit pick up requests through Airgas.com. Instead, DLCIs should use the new process below, which will allow VPF to better track and reconcile cylinder return requests across campus with Airgas.

  1. Fill out the VPF Cylinder Pickup Request form and click “Submit.”
  2. VPF will cross-check the data submitted against the Airgas daily inventory file to confirm the cylinder and dewar requested for pick-up. VPF will contact you directly if more information is required in order to confirm the cylinder and dewar.
  3. VPF will track cylinder and dewar return requests across campus and submit timely consolidated pick-up requests to Airgas. Airgas will send confirmation to VPF when cylinders are removed from campus, and VPF will confirm removal from the daily inventory file.

If you have questions about your cylinder and dewar returns or find any discrepancies in Airgas’ bill file during this process, please contact Jim Bagley
