Web-based form to be launched March 9, training sessions scheduled for community
The Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF) is providing training to the MIT community on the late salary distribution change policy and procedure. The training will focus on policy changes enacted in November and the new web-based form for change requests, which will be launched March 9.
The policy changes, the result of a five-month review process by a team of VPF staff members, are aimed at achieving both increased compliance with the terms of sponsored research and increased flexibility for MIT departments, labs, and centers (DLCs). The web form will greatly simplify the submission of late changes and streamline the VPF review process.
Under the new policy, salary distribution changes for charges within a quarter may now be made via the electronic salary distribution system (eSDS) without written justification for up to three months following the end of the quarter -- rather than two, as was previously allowed.
The training sessions will be held March 9 and 19 in the Grand Cayman Room, NE49. Each session will include a hands-on component, and the trainers will distribute a quick card reference to attendees.
This is one of numerous projects initiated by the VPF to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of MIT financial and administrative processes. For the VPF teams working on these process redesign efforts, each project represents an opportunity for innovative collaboration with groups across MIT in developing better ways to fulfill our responsibilities and carry out the MIT mission.
Please email late_change@mit.edu if you have any questions about the new policy and procedure or web form.
