Diners Club Membership Policy


  • Membership privileges and this card are provided by the authority of MIT. This card should only be used in connection with official MIT business.
  • The Diners Club Card should replace the need for travel advances, allowing the traveler to charge hotels, car rentals, conference registration fees, meals and other business related expenses.
    • Airline tickets should NOT be purchased with the Diners Club Card. Airline tickets should continue to be purchased in the current manner through our approved travel agencies in order to receive any negotiated discounts.
  • The traveler is responsible for all purchases charged on the card. The traveler will pay Diners Club for all charges incurred.
  • Should theft, loss or unauthorized use of the Diners Club Card occur, the traveler is responsible for notifying Diners Club International orally or in writing as soon as possible. You can call 800-2-DINERS, 24 hours a day.
  • The Diners Club Card is provided for expenses related to travel outside of the metropolitan Boston area as well as for similar expenses while not on travel status.
  • Reimbursement for expenses will differ depending on where the expense was incurred.
    • A travel expense related to travel outside of the Boston area will be reimbursed upon filing of a travel voucher. Travel vouchers should be sent to Travel at NE49-4037.
    • For expenses incurred within the metropolitan Boston area, a request for payment (RFP) should be completed. The request for payment should be sent to Accounts Payable at NE49-4064.
  • The Diners Club Card should be used for travel-related expenses only.
