Insurance Office

The Office of Insurance manages the procurement, claims reporting, processing and payments for all property and liability coverages and claims. We serve in an advisory capacity for risk management issues related to student activities, research projects, business travel, contracts and off-campus programs or events.

Services Provided to the MIT Community

• Requests for Certificates of Insurance, Evidence of Coverage;
• Vehicle registrations;
• Property and liability claims handling, including auto (owned and rented), MIT-owned property and Kwajalein transit claims. Subrogation against responsible third parties, if applicable;
• Transit coverage for MIT-owned (including newly purchased equipment) property;
• Evidence of Repatriation (staff and students) and/or Emergency Medical Evacuation Coverage (MIT-business travel only);
• Requests for insurance coverage, including new/leased vehicles, vessels, aircraft, equipment in excess of $500,000 and construction renovations;
• Review contracts, including leases, facility and service agreements, for insurance and risk management issues.
